Job Title: Doctor’s Attendance. (Volunteer)
Job Location: Leda Camp 24-HP, Teknaf, Cox`s Bazar, Bangladesh
Reports to: Medical Officer-HP.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Doctor's Attendant provides essential support to the Doctor and Medical Assistant by assisting with patient care, patient counselling, preparing examination rooms, and ensuring the smooth operation of clinical activities. The role involves direct interaction with patients, requiring excellent communication skills, empathy, and a strong understanding of medical protocols. She will work under the supervision of the Medical Officer-HP
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
He/She will devote time as per the following broad headings:
Clinical Care/Infection Prevention Control (90% of time):
Patient Support:
- Assist in the preparation of patients for examination, treatment, and counselling.
- Support the doctor and medical assistant to provide basic patient care, including helping with mobility, comfort, and hygiene needs.
- Monitor and report patient conditions to medical staff
- Communicate effectively (local language) with patients to ensure their comfort and understanding of procedures.
Clinical Assistance:
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available in doctors' room.
- Assist doctors during examinations, minor procedures, and treatments as needed.
- Assist in maintaining patient records and ensuring accurate documentation of care provided.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage patient flow by coordinating appointments and minimizing waiting times.
- Support the front desk with patient check-ins, paperwork, and answering inquiries.
- Ensure that patient confidentiality is always maintained in accordance with clinic policies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- HSC or bachelor's degree.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and patient care procedures.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Empathy, patience, and a caring attitude towards patients
- at least 1 year of experience in community engagement, data collection with KOBO toolbox.
- Basic orientation on public health promotion for refugee camp
- Good communication skills in Bangla, English and Rohingya Language
- Demonstrated experience in working closely with other health providers.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor and be mentally ready to work beyond the normal working hours in an emergency.
- Must have a willingness to serve the refugee community
